Experimental Persian typography posters

If you ever have looked at the persian writing system you most probably have noticed that the words are made from letters that are connected to each other. On the contrary in latin, letters don’t share connections. This criterion leads to a special aesthetic in Persian typography which is solely for this script and in turn for this language; mutual relationship between the script and the Persian language is the major concept in Ali MirAzimi from Tehran, Iran typographic works.

Confilic Kitchen – Iran

Posted by rod - 09.06.2010

This is an interesting restaurant concept. Conflict Kitchen only serves cuisine from countries that the United States is in conflict with. Every 4 months the Take away restaurant rotates it’s identity to highlight another country. Events, performances and other political and cultural issues will be addressed at the Conflict Kitchen.

“At the moment Kubideh Kitchen is an Iranian take-out restaurant that serves kubideh in freshly baked barbari bread with onion, mint, and basil. Developed in collaboration with members of the Pittsburgh Iranian community, the sandwich is packaged in a custom-designed wrapper that includes interviews with Iranians both in Pittsburgh and Iran on subjects ranging from Iranian food and poetry to the current political turmoil.”

Iran Air Identity

Posted by rod - 28.02.2010

The identity for Air Iran is quite interesting their symbol is derived from the mystic Persian bird called “Homa” or (Huma bird). The Homa is a legendary bird of Sufi fable that is said to never come to rest, living its entire life flying invisibly high above the earth, and never alighting on the ground. Prayers For Iran by Alexander Pieri

Posted by rod - 18.02.2010

Prayers For Iran by photographer Alexander Pieri “A journey through amaizing country such as Iran was a real surprise for me in 2008. Kind and selfless people, astonishing landscapes, Islamic and Persian architecture, Esfahan: the oriental Paris…… Iran is a country worth to visit also because that’s the only way to break the boundaries we all have about Iran thanx to the media presenting them as a “evil and dangerous country”! Far from that!”

Challenging the international preconceptions of women’s roles within an Islamic state, Tehran-based artist Shadi Ghadirian’s photographs draw from her own experiences as a modern woman living within the ancient codes of Shariah law. Her images describe a positive and holistic female identity, humorously taking issue with the traditional roles by which women – both in the Middle East and universally – have been defined.
