Istanbul Deko is a Turkish graphic design project created by Geray Gencer. Geray created a typeface out of Istanbul’s historic structures and developed two typography posters incorporating his typeface and iconic buildings of the city.

“Essentially ‘Istanbul Deko’ is a type design project with a common theoretical base of architecture and typography. It uses an original typeface inspired by the multicultural heritage of İstanbul and designed with details of the city’s historical structures. Then I have produced a typographic poster series about istanbul and its architectural heritage as well.”

Monopoly Turkey from SMOG.tv on Vimeo.

Chilean animation agency Smog created the TV commercial for Monopoly Turkey. In this commercial the camera had to fly in one take next to all the architectural and historical landmarks so that people would recognise them. Being from Chile the team had to invest a lot time into researching Turkey, creating the world and landmarks.

Hezarfen animation

Posted by rod - 20.01.2011

Hezarfen from Hezarfen on Vimeo.

This is a fun animation based on the historical Turkish character Hezarfen. The true story goes that Hezarfen first practiced by flying over the pulpit of Okmeydani eight or nine times with eagle wings, using the force of the wind. Then, as Sultan Murad Khan (Murad IV) was watching from the Sinan Pasha mansion at Sarayburnu, he flew from the very top of the Galata Tower and landed in the Doğancılar square in Üsküdar, with the help of the south-west wind.

Harem Sultan Wine Packaging

Posted by rod - 07.05.2010

“Harem Sultan is a premium wine brand that is only sold at duty free shops in Turkey targeting foreign tourists. The brief was to design a packaging that would create conversation on the table when people go back to their countries. Something that foreigners would love to buy not only as wine but as a “Special Souvenir from Turkey”.

Each bottle is dressed with the famous Kaftan of an Ottoman Sultan. The colours of the Kaftans indicate the sort of wine in the bottle.  At the back of each bottle there is the real story of the Kaftan. The Kaftans are all handcrafted in silk. And are all designed by the original textiles of the Ottoman Sultans.” Designed by TBWA\Istanbul via lovelypackage
