Swedish Dala Horse
Posted by rod - 08.12.2010A Dalecarlian horse or Dala horse (Swedish: Dala) is a traditional carved and painted wooden statuette of a horse originating in the Swedish province of Dalarna. In the old days the Dala horse was mostly used as a toy for children; in modern times it has become a symbol of Dalarna as well as Sweden in general. Several different types of Dala horses are made, with distinguishing features common to the locality of the site where they are produced. One particular style has, however, become much more common and widespread than others. It is stoutly carved and painted bright red with details and a harness in white, green, yellow and blue. Wackra – Sweden
Posted by rod - 08.09.2010“Wackra’s design is inspired by typical decorative paintings from Dalarna in Sweden, where parent company Clean Chemical Sweden is situated, but in a modern guise. The colours, that differentiate uses (leave-on products are red and rince-off products blue) are also taken from the area. This is Swedish skincare tradition from Dalarna.†designed by fribergdesign via lovleypackaging

Swedish ancient monuments
Posted by rod - 17.05.2010“This set shows photos of Swedish ancient monuments and archaeological sites such as rune stones, generally from the 11th century AD, and Neolithic dolmens and passage graves from about 3500 BC. Some of the photos show excavations or examinations of monuments or sites, or merely men, women or children posing beside them – often aiming to show the scale in a simple way.” more here.
