Icelandic stamp mural

Icelandic stamp mural by Siggi Eggertsson

This wall mural was created for the Icelandic Design Centre in Reykjavik by Siggi Eggertsson. The mural features 9 Icelandic stamps each displaying a different iconic motive of Iceland. I can figure out all of them but I have spotted the Icelandic flag, viking ship, volcano, Icelandic horse, the famous Icelandic Geysir and what I think is Skogafoss waterfall.

If you like what you have seen here you should also check out some of Siggi’s Iceland illustrations.

Greek Olive Oil company Minotaur produced a organic extra virgin olive oil from selected olives from the island of Crete. The design of the olive oil bottle is a black beauty and stresses the importance of the location of the product. A black and gold map is wrapped around the bottle revealing the many islands of Greece. Rummo is a family owned pasta business from Benevento, Italy with more than 160 years of history. London based design studio Irving & Co had the honours to redesign their packaging range which strengthened Rummo’s market position. The new design captures the Italian flair, local quality and heritage.

“Their philosophy “Metodo Lenta Lavorazione” extols the virtues of taking time to make things properly. This vision is articulated through all levels of the brand from the simplicity and honesty of the logotype through to the tactility and texture of the brown cartons and paper bag based packaging used for the Leggendarie range.”

P&G committed themselves to a 10-year partnership with the Olympic Movement, becoming one of the top worldwide sponsors. The first campaign was launched in Vancouver and in 2012 Procter & Gamble together with Landor continued building on the London Olympic campaign. Landor was asked to create a visual system for this huge world wide campaign, using the host city and its famous London tube as inspiration for its “road to glory” concept.

“The road to glory is the journey of hopeful Olympians and the devoted mothers who helped them to become athletes—like the first-time Olympic swimmer and her mom who drove her to practice throughout childhood. The visual graphic at the heart of the campaign’s design is a medallion inspired by Olympic medals. The flexible design of the ribbon allows each brand and region to personalise the campaign.”

If one has to sum up Brussels, Belgium in a few words I think a lot of people would mention at least one of the these words, Atomium, Chocolate, waffles, tintin, grand place, and the capital of Europe. Brazilian, London based illustrator Fernando Volken Togni has done an excellent job, illustrating Brussels from its  unique side. The job was commissioned by Qatar Airways inflight magazine Orxy for the 24 hours in Brussels feature.

Independent graphic design studio Tatabi created the lovely Spanish packaging design for “Eau de Espana” The producers created two fragrances one for him and one for her, which consumers differentiate by the illustration on the packaging. For him there is a illustration of a señor squirting perfume onto him, and for her there is a señorita, each wearing a typical Spanish outfit. The rest of the design was kept very simple.

Tatabi mentions that Eau de Espana was a happy packaging and postcard project. “50ml of Spain in a bottle with san exclusive fragrance. Blend Happiness, sun and a dash of colour to get Spain!”

If you love this project you may also like the Spanish Olives packaging design project.

Forget the time in SwitzerlandForget the time in Switzerland

Switzerland is world renown for its clocks, and watches. But time in Switzerland can come to a standstill when you forget all about it — during holidays in the snow, on beautiful winter hiking trails with stunning Alpine panoramas, in comfy ski huts and wonderful wellness hotels.

The Swiss tourism association launched its lasted winter campaign called “Clocks”. The advert features once more the two typical Swiss alpine men. This time they get rid of all the clocks around a alpine village so that you can forget about time and relax. As the end slogan says “We do everything for a relaxing winter holiday.”

If you have a little bit more “time”, have a look at these three Swiss tourism campaign:

Antoine Corbineau’s colourful and often strikingly complex illustrations have already proven to be very popular with companies and organisations all over the world. His work has the rare and powerful gift of both instantly communicating a simple key message or brand, but also effectively sharing a much larger amount of information hidden within the fun and energetic worlds of his illustrations.

Salt Lake City graduate Jill De Haan recently completed this Swiss hot chocolate packaging design which draws its inspiration from the Swiss “Scherenshnitt” paper cutting style. Another good example of this style can be seen on the poster design from Alberto Russo called “The dark side of Switzerland“.
