Sabadì – I Torroni Italian packaging design

Italian design agency Happycentro recently design this cool Italian inspired packaging for Sabadì – I Torroni

“Traditionals Torroni (nougats) directly from the heart of Sicily, with Slow Food raw materials. With a perfect balance between honey, pistachios, almonds and citrus zest this Torroni are the ideal treat for satisfy your sweet tooth.
Sicily is a marvelous place, a melting pot where several idioms, art forms and flavors could mix and influence each other. There we started, from the idea of composing visually and metaphorically that environment, made of various rich narrative elements.
Sabadì always starts by picking the best raw materials, tiles of a tremendous mosaic of flavors that we translate in a mosaic of stories to tell. Stories that come from the ground, sprout in the countryside, spread through the streets, the squares, the fountains, the churches, the palaces, the places, the people.
Each bar is a chapter, made of four, and when placed side by side the entire story is a wonderful panorama.”

Territorial Alphabets – Italy

Posted by rod - 03.03.2014

Territorial Alphabets italy

Thesis Project in Graphic Design by Roberto Picerno
Undergraduate degree in Product Design, Faculty of Architecture, Politecnico di Bari,
January-June 2008
relators: Mauro Bubbico, Nino Perrone

Domestic canvas are common objects of everyday use, and sometimes they are decorated with representation of the territory. This representation is made with typical elements of that specific territory, as natural landscapes, gastronomical products, relevant characters of the past as well as important architectures and pieces of art. These element are part of an alphabet, they become the common language of inhabitants of that territory. This alphabet is defined by the territory itself, selected after decades and decades of community life and sharing. They are a spontaneous self-representations, which called Roberto’s attention as new ways for defining the identity of a territory, in particular the italian regions. Usually these canvases are sold as souvenirs to the tourists in Italy.

Roberto started from this humble and common artifact as a medium for a diffuse and shared visual identity. He  selected some categories and started his research looking for common elements that could define a territorial alphabet. For each relevant element he designed an icon. Roberto took Calabria as pilot region to start a new definition of the regional visual identity.

Illustrated map of Ortigia

Posted by rod - 14.10.2013

Being the ancient cradle of the Greek civilization, Siracusa has always lived in an extraordinary fusion between myth and reality. Since the publication of “Antiche Siracuse” by Vincenzo Mirabella, the now Italian town, and particularly the Ortigia island, has become the ideal subject for an imaginative and creative representation which melt together reality and imagination. Visionary illustrated maps show an idealized city in which ruins of ancient monuments and medieval architectures are assimilated into each other with imaginary reconstructions of routes, districts and famous buildings. A real tribute which increased the city mythic imaginary and represented a huge attraction for European grand tourists of the eighteenth century. Designed by studio formagramma

Rummo is a family owned pasta business from Benevento, Italy with more than 160 years of history. London based design studio Irving & Co had the honours to redesign their packaging range which strengthened Rummo’s market position. The new design captures the Italian flair, local quality and heritage.

“Their philosophy “Metodo Lenta Lavorazione” extols the virtues of taking time to make things properly. This vision is articulated through all levels of the brand from the simplicity and honesty of the logotype through to the tactility and texture of the brown cartons and paper bag based packaging used for the Leggendarie range.”

A trip begins when you dream it – Italy

Posted by rod - 15.09.2011

A trip begins when you dream it - Russia toscana

A trip begins when you dream it: This is the Toscana, Italy illustration that was illustrated by Mexican Graphic designer Jose Guizar. Also worth checking out is the Russian version.

“A trip starts when you start dreaming about it. Imagine you could win $20,000 dollars to make a trip, any trip, anywhere, with whoever and just the way you want it; by using your MasterCard abroad as much as you can, no matter the amount of your purchases.

I —with the help of my wingman D!— created this two illustrations as the key graphics for a MasterCard campaign proposal. The idea was to illustrate in a playful way the dynamic of purchasing small things that can take you to a dream trip.”
