WWII Time Square Kiss Picture

The iconic World War II, V-Day Time Square kiss picture was shot in August 1945 by photographer Alfred Eisenstead for the Life Magazine. The nurse (Edith Shain) in the picture unfortunately passed away on June 20, 2010. May all World War II veterans and victims rest in peace. via worldculturepictorial

Kalakari display

The Kalakari Display was designed by Beth Shirrell who got inspired by by the ornate culture of India.

“I explored typographic expression by creating a display font that captures and reflects the ornate culture of India. Specifically taking impetus from the country’s architecture, the ancient art of henna painting, and Hindu iconography. The font is a collection of 26 majuscule forms that make up the English alphabet. Kalakari translates from Hindi to English to mean ornamentation.” via fly

Yakuza tattoo furniture

I would love to have that table in my living room. “Designed by Reddish they treated this interior project as if it was a living body, receiving its character from a unique tattoo printed on its surface. The wood texture acts as skin, becoming a platform for expressing a strong cultural and personal identity. The digital printing technology enables to easily treat each table individually, making them unique – just like people.” The tattoo is inspired by the Yakuza tattoo’s, which are a traditional organized crime syndicates in Japan.
