During my summer holiday in Kenya I went to the Masai market in Nairobi (as most tourists do). I bought these postcards depicting the Masai tribe in their daily doings. To make the postcards more authentic and interesting they glued traditional Shuka fabrics to it. Shukas are worn by male Masai warriors of pretty much all ages and are usually red.

This is a nice story of a Kakenya Ntaiya, a Masai woman and her childhood dream to become a teacher. It wasn’t easy for Kakenya to follow up here passion because she first had to find a way of negotiating herself out of an arranged marriage and on-top of that convince her village to collect money for her to go to college. Having achieved all this, she returned to her village and built a girls’ school there.
