Lisbon tile trader Cortiço & Netos’ contribution to Portugal’s identity

Tiles have been part of Portugal’s identity from hundreds of years. You will see them everywhere when wondering though the streets of Lisbon. From colourful patterns to full blown blue and white images (Azulejo) that tell a story.

In 1976 Joaquim José Cortiço founded Cortiço & Netos whose primary goal was the preservation of the Portuguese industrial tile. The company gathered, stored and sold countries Portuguese ceramic tiles. Now the business is run by four brothers who inherited the business from their grandfather Joaquim. The brothers have now opened a new store in Lisbon’s historic Mouraria district where they display Joaquim’s 30-year old collection, which features discontinued lines from the 1960s up to present day.

This “free sharing” of inoofmatirn seems too good to be true. Like communism.

I totally agree with your wrap up, Matt. It pains me to say that if I had done it, I would have been a bit more lazy about it.Here is my wrap up of El Presidente’s SOTU address:

As Charlie Sheen says, this article is “WINNING!”

Stuart the Viking,"And Grok is a perfectly cromulent word!"In this case, it was the right one, too: I wanted a one syllable word that meant "to internalize a concept" and there it is.

oh man the fist sweater is great and i like the two colored tights. i just achieved a similar effect by wearing only one thigh high. kinda funny.
