The seven wonders of Oregon campaign

Posted by rod - 24.03.2014

I like the seven wonders of Oregon campaign because it looks and feels different from all the other destination campaigns which in my eye’s look the same. Travel Oregon made it’s biggest marketing investment ever which I hope payed off. The $3 million marketing campaign which uses TV spots, Instagram photos, print ads and other forms of online content was devolved by Wieden + Kennedy, Substance and Sparkloft Media. The campaign argues that whoever named the seven wonders of the world, never set font in Oregon. Therefor Travel Oregon named it’s own 7 state wonders: the Oregon Coast, Mt. Hood, the Columbia River Gorge, Crater Lake, the Painted Hills, the Wallowas and Smith Rock. What really inspires me are the wonder logo illustrations which are placed like stamps on top of impressive images of the wonder. The designers took the illustration style all the way to website where they integrated into the menu, the footer and into the layout of each article. Which of the wonders would you like to visit?

The simplicity of the design is beautiful. Courageous enough to let the wonders essentially speak for themselves with simple line drawings enhancing the graphic design. Nicely done.

Congratulations — awesome job indeed!

I love this campaign. It really captured my attention and makes me want to visit the ones I have missed. It was especially effective as I just finished visiting a few of them last summer. Now I have to go back to see what I missed.
