Mexican Chocolate Stout label design

Posted by rod - 21.08.2013

A 500 year old Aztec recipe found its way into Copper Kettle Brewing, who were so inspired that they created the Mexican chocolate stout. After a few years of success the Denver company hired Emrich Office who designed the identity of the company and the new label design for the Mexican beer. The new label was printed with a copper ink and featured a custom designed Azted cacao god.

“For the logo, we made the Kettle icon more recognizable, improved the readability of the logotype, and simplified the colors. We also added some secondary marks that can be used on promotional items. The use of metallic copper was an easy decision but required some attention to detail during the production process to achieve a strong, reflective copper sheen. For Mexican Chocolate stout, we researched the ancient civilizations of Mexico and their use of Cacao as a drink and in religion. The label design includes a blend of imagery and motifs from the Toltec, Aztec and Mayan cultures.”
