The Dorcas Centre visual identity – Burkina Faso
Posted by rod - 21.03.2013The Dorcas Centre was setup by Elizabeth Oubda as a educational facility to help women in poverty in and around Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. To attract global funders, the centre was in need for a visual identity that represented the local people and focused on the positive work done at the centre.
London based design studio Confederation was commissioned to create the visual identity who were inspired by local patterns. The patterns which make up most of the identity originate from the traditional paintwork called Gourounsi which are found on many of the houses around the city. The contemporary, black and white traditional pattern was applied to various applications, such as printed and digital material.
