New South African banknotes

The South African National Reserve Bank has revealed its new South African banknotes. Each banknote features an image of South Africa‘s first democratically elected president Nelson Mandela aka “Madiba” on the front. On the back of the South African Rand the notes kept the “Big Five” animal images that appear on the current notes. Each banknote also received its individual pattern and colour.
“The concept is moments of Nelson Mandela’s life etched onto paper. Each etch represents a key moment in Madiba’s life. The illustrations was done to interpret these scenes based on the new bank notes.”
The Jupiter Drawing Room created a TVC to precent South Africa’s new banknotes. Cape Town design agency Am I Collective designed the artwork for the project.
The South African National Reserve bank will brink the new banknotes into circulation before the end of 2012.
