Austria is a landlooked country in the hart of the Alps which has some awesome destinations which you just have to experience. The Alpine republic has a strong poster (Plakat) culture and history which is worth a look at. If you are in Vienna or are planing on traveling there, make sure you visit the Prunksaal der Österreichischen Nationalbibliothek. They have an exhibition until the 28.10.2012 that showcases Austrian vintage travel posters.

Also have a look at these Vintage Austrian tourism posters.

I am in need of some guidance. I have a poster which says Austria at the top and pictures two musicians, a blonde women playing the cello and a shirtless scarf wearing man playing the piano. On the bottom is printed Osterreich Autriche. On the back it says PRINTED IN AUSTRIA-FO R THE AUSTRIAN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BY PILLERDRUCK, VIENNA. B7314. NOT FOR SALE what I was wondering is if you know the value of this poster, how many were printed, and any other information you can pass on. Thank you for your assistance.

I remember a most beautiful and creative poster, at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod round about 1955 or 1956. There was a large green leaf, a raindrop, and a cute orange and black bug on the leaf. If you looked inside the raindrop you could see a beautiful field with wildflowers, and a high snowy alpine range in the background. There was a boy lying on his back in the field, daydreaming. The caption below just said AUSTRIA or OSTERREICH. It would be great if you could track this down and post it.
