The holy thugs of Venezuela The holy thugs of Venezuela

Venezuelans are traditionally Catholic and believe in the usual religious figures. But with around 14,000 murders each year traditional religious figures are increasingly being swapped out with the so called Santos Malandros (in English, the Holy Thugs). These alternative saints commonly feature sideways baseball hats, cigarettes and guns. The Vice guide to travel created a great documentary about this unusual way of life.
